Qigong is an ancient Chinese meditative practice combining slow mindful movement with specific breath techniques to promote circulation of “qi” or life force energy through the body. There are currently more than 10,000 styles of qigong being practiced throughout the world that have effectively helped people of all ages and fitness levels heal their bodies, restore vitality and cultivate inner peace. Although sometimes confused with Tai Chi, Qigong is a broader practice which sometimes includes Tai Chi Movements, which cultivate a more martial energetic as well as practices completed dedicated to healing different areas/organs/systems of the body. The movements are done seated, standing & supine (and all can be modified for different needs).
We will focus on two systems: the Dao Yin System of Qigong which is extremely helpful and effective at building and maintaining health and the Eight Brocade Practice which is an 800 year old system that tonifies different organ systems in the body. These practices are accessible to all levels and all ages and their healing effects on the body, mind and spirit are profound. They are especially great for those who yoga postures have not be a desirable or accessible method of practice.
